Web Exclusive May 26, 2014 NTPC-Kaniha faces severe coal shortage NTPC-Kaniha with 3000 MW capacity is the second largest power plant in India. This plant is located in Angul District of Odisha state. The power plant is facing severe coal shortage. As per norms prescribed by the Central Electricity Authority, the plant should have a coal stock for at least one week. The plant currently has a coal stock of 30,000 tonne that would meet plant’s requirement for half a day.
