According to American Equipment Distributors Association, citing US Department of Commerce data, exports of the US made construction equipment ended 2014 with a 13.2 per cent drop compared to 2013, with a total $17.26 billion shipped to global markets.
Business to Europe, South America, and Australia/Oceania was affected the most. Top countries buying the most US-made construction machinery during 2014 (by dollar volume) were Canada, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and South Africa. The fourth quarter of 2014 marked the eighth consecutive quarter that US construction equipment exports experienced year-over-year declines.
While exports have been decreasing steadily since the second quarter of 2012, imports have been trending higher during the period.
