A BE Mechanical Engineer with a total experience of over 15 years in construction equipment industry, Nilesh Borkar is the National Manager - Cranes in Kobelco Cranes India. Borkar started his carrier with Sanghvi Movers as a marketing engineer for rental of cranes and continued for 5 years. Later, he worked as Product Manager in Voltas for cranes handling direct sales and support to service team for a period of three years. Currently, he is with Kobelco Cranes India as National Manager - Cranes. From 2009 onwards he is taking care of the sales and marketing of crawler cranes in India and Bangladesh markets. He has been accorded with the Best Sales Manager for Kobelco in 2011.
During his career, Borkar has done some challenging projects. One among them was Tata Steel Jamshedpur 100 year-old blast furnace relining job by crane Demag CC 2400. The project was challenging in terms of ground area to assemble the crane in luffing combination and to remove/dismantle the 100 years old blast furnace and erection of new one.
He was instrumental in the concept of long usance credit period at the time of stiff currency fluctuation so that customer can able to purchase cranes even at depreciated currency and now it has become the trend in the industry.
On the industry outlook he says, ´The sector, no doubt, is moving in positive direction with expectation of peak in 2017-2018.´
