BEML, a premier mining and construction equipment manufacturer, has rolled out the country´s first electric drive rear dump truck BH205-E for large scale coal mining applications. At a function held at the company´s Mysuru complex, G Mohan Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), Ministry of Defence, has rolled out the indigenously designed and developed equipment in the presence of P Dwarakanath, CMD, directors, executives and employees of the company.
BH205E rear dump truck is powered by Tier-II emission compliant modular common rail electronic engine with 2,300 hp. AC drive system has been engineered to provide exceptional haul road performance with reduced maintenance.
Weighing 335 tonne when fully loaded, BH205E is easily manoeuvrable with power steering with wide steering angle, resulting in short turning radius and good manoeuvrability. Special attention was paid to ensure operator´s comfort by providing spacious ROPS compliant cabin with co-operator seat, ergonomically designed instrument panel, telescopic/tilt able steering wheel, well cushioned adjustable operator seat with three point seat belt, front AC for uniform cooling of cabin, large tinted glass windows for excellent visibility and all safety features have been provided including provision for emergency steering, braking, and proximity warning.
