Bricking Solutions, a full solution provider of refractory installation equipment, offers its EZ lift suspended platforms for improved safety and efficiency during servicing and relining of vertical vessels. The platform includes fast assembly and boosted productivity for applications in cyclones, lime kilns, pre-calciners, ISASMELT™ furnaces and more.
'Traditional vertical vessel relining and servicing involves scaffolding, crude platforms or, sometimes, people just hanging off of ropes on bos'n chairs, making it a slow and dangerous process,' said Lars Lindgren, President, Bricking Solutions. 'We developed the EZ lift suspended platform to give our customers a tool they can use to improve safety and speed up their work, allowing them to move on to other tasks faster.'
The EZ lift suspended platform provides a safer and more productive alternative to the traditional methods mentioned and used in vertical vessel applications. Crews use electric, manual or hydraulic hoists to move the platform up and down inside vertical vessels, performing maintenance and relining tasks. The platform can move as fast as 11 m per minute (35 ft per minute) with Spider SC series electric hoists.
Bricking Solutions manufactures the modular platform structure using high-strength 6061-T6 aluminium, featuring the same strength as steel at a third of the weight. The structure is flexible, with the standard platform reconfigurable to four different sizes to fit vessels from 3.5 m to 6.7 m (11.5 ft to 22 ft) in diameter. Crews can adjust the size of the platform by up to one metre while suspended by changing the outer panels, allowing for easy transition between different widths of a vessel. Bricking Solutions also offers custom outer panels to fit an individual vessel's walls. Crews use mechanical outriggers to maneuver and stabilise the platform, which features a load capacity of 6,000 pounds (2,722 kg).
Bricking Solutions ships the platform on a custom pallet that can be carried by crane or forklift. The platform consists of small modular pieces for easy assembly. Crews can pull components off of the pallet - in order - for platform assembly. Once maintenance is complete, crews can replace each component back onto the pallet - in reverse order ù after disassembly, ready for next use and convenient storage. Each piece weighs 40 pounds (18 kg) or less and can fit through a 22-inch (560-mm) diameter access hole. Pin connections improve platform strength over welded connections and allow for fast assembly. Where scaffolding in many cases can take up to a week to assemble, the EZ lift suspended platform takes less than one day.
Bricking Solutions configures the platform with a removable centre disc and a material hoist enabling easy lifting of materials. Platforms come standard with Perf-O-Grip planking for a non-slip surface, safety fall guards and manual or mechanical outriggers that can be placed against walls or an inner pillar for stability.
