"The ACE range of compactors with a higher total applied force, can achieve the density faster as this is true parameter for achieving maximum dry density, says Jitendra Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, Action Construction Equipment. Excerpts from the interview.
What is the market potential for compactors and motor graders in terms of volume and value? The market for compactors and motor graders are in the growing phase, and it would continue to be in same trajectory for the near foreseeable future, barring a one or two-year aberration because of a change of guard at the Centre. The road-building equipment industry would see a CAGR of minimum 25 per cent year after year.
According to you what are the growth enablers? Speedy land acquisition, clearance of utilities services and the availability of long-term funding for big ticket projects would really help the project announced to get on the fast track and would help in meeting the ever-increasing demand of infrastructure of roads.
Would you tell us about the range offered in both products (rollers/compactors & motor graders)?ACE has a full range of compaction equipment soil, tandem and PTRs; in soil 10T, 12T, standard drum drive and pad foot, all the variants in different capacities are available in our range. In tandem, we have both 9T and 10T and have specific variant for the specfic application of pure asphalt and dual application of bituminous and non-bituminous layers including soil. The features advantages of Ace range of compaction equipments are top-end aggregates with best deliverables yet at a most competitive price, features like engine-water-cooled, fuel-efficient and high torque engine, high pressure close loop hydraulic, single joy stick control, multiple frequency setting, and higher total applied force.
What are the technological trends compared to conventional grading and compacting methodologies? With more and more Bolt projects, the trend would be for higher capacity equipment which can help in reducing the construction period. ACE is ready with the 15T compactor and graders with 200 hp+ engine.
What is the existing manufacturing capacity for these product lines? ACE's existing capacity of 50+ rollers and 12+ graders is sufficient to meet the current market requirement and in the next two quarters, no investment is planned as there's a lull in demand for the time being.
What is the rental scenario for these products? As the new projects announced are taking a while, the rental scene is not very encouraging but this will definitely change for good just after the rainy season.
What is the return on investment on a compactor and also on a motor grader? The return on investment is in range of 20-22 per cent including deprecation.
Why vibratory compactors over static ones and what is the vibration effect in compaction over the static loading?Vibratory compactors give uniform compaction and help in compacting the larger lift thickness, the compaction effect is 3-3.5 times than the static effect.
To what extent do soil conditions determine the selection of compactors, and could you tell us the reasons?Soil conditions (barring the silt and clay deployed for padfoot ) in no way affect the selection of compactors as their capacity and size can only help in handling large quantities.
Could you tell us about the density achievable from the range of your compactors? What determines the maximum achievable density? The ACE range of compactors with a higher total applied force can achieve the density faster as this is the true parameter for achieving maximum dry density.
