Portable air compressor players are meeting the demands from construction and mining segments with productive and technologically upgraded machines.
A portable air compressor is used to supply compressed air on construction sites, road works, or whenever people need compressed air where a stationary compressor is not suitable. Portable power plays a major role in verticals such as construction, mining, exploration and oil and gas. Construction and mining activities have picked up in the recent past driving the growth in the requirement of various related equipment. Many construction projects in remote areas and most mining projects demand portable air power for drilling and such activities. According to Anvar Jay Varadaraj, Head of Marketing and Communication, ELGi Equipments Ltd, portable air compressor market share occupied more than 40 per cent of the industry and is estimated to witness growth over the next few years. He adds, 'Rising consumer awareness, growing requirement for reliability along with a positive outlook on regulatory policies and measures are expected to drive demand and stimulate growth in this segment.'
Says S Kumar, Business Line Manager, Portable Energy Division, Atlas Copco (India) Ltd, 'With an upgraded portfolio and technologically advanced equipment, Atlas Copco construction equipment will continue to touch lives and improve infrastructure needs of people in India. The year 2017 so far has shown a very healthy growth over last year in all equipment categories and we expect the trend to continue in the next five years as well.'
With the construction and mining segments picking up momentum, the requirement for portable air power is going to grow in the coming years and seeing this positive trend, major players are gearing up to introduce more competitive and productive range in their stable.
