The fifth edition of bauma CONEXPO INDIA is expected to be bigger in number of exhibitors and exhibiting area, compared to last edition.
Once again, the biennial international trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles is all set to throw open to visitors to witness the technology prowess showcased by construction equipment (CE) industry stakeholders from 30 countries. In the past two years since the previous edition, the Indian CE industry has grown rapidly while the global market also has recovered from slowdown.
Increased focus on infrastructure development by the government, rapid urbanisation, increasing foreign investments and surging demand for customised equipment are the major factors expected to boost demand for construction equipment in India in the coming years. Supported by Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) and Builders Association of India (BAI), the bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2018 will be held from 11 to14 December 2018 at HUDA Grounds, Gurgaon. The advantage this year for the exhibitors and visitors is that the exhibition is happening at the same venue of the previous edition, unlike the earlier editions. This will help the exhibitors and visitors in finding the location and reaching the venue without any hassle. bauma CONEXPO has been awarded recently with one of the three best trade exhibitions in the country across the sectors. The exhibition achieved this recognition in just four editions.
Market research reports estimate 40-50 per cent growth in the sales of construction equipment during 2016-17 to 2021-22 period, which is encouraging for the industry and the exhibition.
Bhupinder Singh, CEO, bC Expo India says, "The Indian construction equipment segment, due to investment in the infrastructure, construction and mining sector has become one of the fastest growing segments of the country. bauma CONEXPO INDIA has become the industry's key meeting point in India in recent years. There is a positive trend in all sectors of the construction machinery industry in India for the years to come and we are expecting this good development on the Indian market being reflected at the trade fair."
The fourth edition of bauma CONEXPO INDIA held in 2016 at the same venue saw footfall of 32,644 visitors and 647 exhibitors from 30 countries, which occupied a total of 150,000 sq m of space. This year is expecting over 40,000 visitors from 30 countries with exhibition space of 195,000 sq m.
bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2018 will discuss various challenges of the CE industry and deliberate on the solutions and opportunities provided by the Indian market to the CE industry. The trade fair will also discuss the latest technologies and the upcoming trends in the industry through panel discussions, informative sessions and seminars.
The exhibition will bring together around 700 Indian and global suppliers, manufacturers, importers, dealers, influencers, and service providers, catering to various segments of the CE industry and also provide a professional platform for networking, investment and exchange of ideas.
A major attraction this time will be the Buyer-Seller Program organised for the first time at bauma CONEXPO INDIA. This will help with potential matchmaking of the exhibitors and visitors. The DEMO Area will provide a platform to demonstrate the performance of exhibitors' machinery and equipment live at the show. Apart from these, a host of meetings and conferences are being planned throughout the four days. These include the BAI Managing Committee meeting, Conference by Indian Construction Machinery Manufacturers Association (ICEMA), Conference on Construction Equipment Rentals organised by the Construction Equipment Rental Association (CERA), theTransportation Infrastructure Conclave organised by UBS Forums, apart from individual events organised by participating companies. There will also be a four-day CE skill development workshop organised in association with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC).
According to the organisers, many major players in the industry have expanded their booth space this year, including ACE, Case, Caterpillar, JCB, Kobelco, L&T, Liugong, PERI, Putzmeister, Sany, Schwing Stetter, Volvo, Wirtgen and Zoomlion. Terex, one of the industry's giants, is also returning for the first time since 2014. DEUTZ Engines, Doka, Doosan Bobcat, Etrack Crushers (A Keestrack Group Company), Hyundai and Manitou Equipment are returning this year as well. The German company Kaeser Kompressoren SE and the Indian manufacturer Tata Hitachi are attending for the first time.
The huge number of exhibitors is directly related to the strong growth being generated by the Indian construction machinery market and the positive outlook for India's construction industry. These growth forecasts are being fuelled by capital expenditures being made by the Indian government in the expansion of the country's infrastructure. India is to become the world's third-largest market for the global construction industry by 2025.
The environment for the construction equipment market is very conducive now. It is very important for the various stakeholders like the government, developers and contractors to find the right equipment and solution for meeting the growing demand. bauma CONEXPO is one such platform where we can meet technology and solution providers from 30 countries and find the right products and solution for various projects.
The construction machinery market will profit from the infrastructure expansion: bulldozers, backhoe loaders and excavators will generate huge gains in sales over the next five years. "The construction machinery industry has tremendous opportunities ahead of it, and bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2018 is the perfect place to see these trends up close," Singh concludes.
