The growth prospects of OTR tyres are expected to be better with the various industry segments on growth path. The government's progressive measures have enabled various industry segments to grow in the recently concluded financial year and the trend is to continue at least in the next short to medium term. Construction, mining and transportation play a major role in the growth prospects of equipment and haulage vehicles. In the construction of roads and bridges, most of the construction equipment in use are tyre-mounted equipment, be it backhoe loaders, mobile cranes, wheel loaders or trucks, in which different types of tyres are being used. With the construction activities go up in future, there will be an increase in demand for on and off-highway tyres from OEMs and aftermarket. Manufacturers of CASH (components, accessories, spares and hardware) products have these days become closer to the concept of Make-in-India. The latest example is the Swedish engine manufacturer Volvo Penta. The company has started manufacturing its range of engines at its newly constructed manufacturing line at the Volvo Eicher Powertrain (VEPT) facility in Pithampur. It has recently unveiled the first engines that were manufactured fully in India, a 5-litre and an 8-litre engine. Liebherr has recently introduced a new visionary boom system. The SX system increases lifting capacity and lifting height of 750-tonne lattice boom cranes to the 1,000 tonne class for erecting wind turbines.
