With a cross functional experience of over 13 years in strategy, growth analysis, due diligence, marketing and product development, Pankaj Jha has worked across various verticals in the power and energy industry. During his career, he has led the product line strategy formulation and product growth strategy for major product lines primarily in diesel and gas engines. Pankaj has worked with Perkins for over a year now. Prior to joining Perkins, he worked with other diesel engine makers in the country and overseas. One of the most exciting and challenging projects that Pankaj has been involved in, is understanding the local market needs for the large power generation engines and generator sets in the Indian market. India is unique in engine usage, lifecycle requirements and cost of ownership factors, as well as product needs. External factors such as the market dynamics and the evolving power situation in the country, puts an additional twist on the generator set environment and market. Working in this environment and establishing the Perkins brand, which is a relatively new entrant in the market, is a challenging and exciting project.
Pankaj has worked alongside the Perkins India team to develop their understanding of the local market needs. This has led to considerable progress in product development and the evolution of the product support strategy, while enhancing the market knowledge in both the fixed speed and variable speed market for Perkins. This knowledge is helping Perkins to establish a strong foothold in the Indian market.
Pankaj is an MBA from Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University, USA. He also holds an M Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Florida State University, USA as well as a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi.
