We have plans to set up a new plant, which will depend on the market demand. If the market picks up, then we will go for a new plant; we will also improve and expand our existing product lines, says Nimit Mittal, Chief Materials Officer, Cenlub Systems. Excerpts of the interview.
Could you tell us about Cenlub's product range?
We are manufacturers of automatic greasing systems or a centralised lubrication system. We have a range of lubrication systems for the mining sector. In construction, our application is mainly for the concrete industry which includes batching plants, concrete pumps and ready mixers.
What are the advantages of the automatic greasing system?
In India, not many people go for automatic greasing systems; they still go for the manual greasing system which has many disadvantages. There is no guarantee that one hundred per cent greasing is done. Another disadvantage is contamination of grease. The automatic greasing system costs more initially but it saves the customer having a special person to go around lubricating it, so it is cost-effective. Nowadays, more OEM players and lubricant companies sell specialty lubricants which are more expensive than common lubricants. One cannot use the manual system for those expensive lubricants. Another advantage is that it is more eco-friendly. The automatic greasing system also helps in overall savings in operational cost. Using this will have lesser breakdowns; the system is in good condition with less wear and tear.
How does it ensure that a hundred per cent greasing is done?
Our system distributes grease in such a way that each point gets the amount of grease it requires. So the points which require higher amounts of grease get higher grease and those which require lesser amounts of grease are supplied with less grease. These progressive blocks don't work if there is a blockage or if even a single point is not working. There is a visual indicator from which one gets electrical signals. On the visual indicator, the person can make out whether it is working or not. All together it ensures that there is one hundred per cent greasing. Also, the timer in the system automatically indicates whenever the equipment needs to be lubricated.
How do you fulfill the customer requirement of a cost-effective solution?
It is a first-time installation for a person who has not experienced the benefits of the automatic greasing system. Once the customer sees it, he knows what the benefits are. So it is a one-time selling.
What are the technology upgradations to your product range?
There are various technological upgradations in terms of metallurgy. We keep on exploring the different grades of metals available and testing which will suit us better. In terms of manufacturing also, we keep on investing in new and better machinery so that we can get production accuracies. In fact, getting feedback from the market is the main attraction of our upgradation.
What are your future plans?
We are looking at expanding our product range, getting more products to full our customers' needs, and be more cost-competitive. Right now, we are focusing on cost-competitiveness wherein we are maintaining and improving the quality, and simultaneously bringing down the costs. Our ultimate motive is to provide our customer with a system which is reliable.
