The new Volvo FMX is the best mining and construction truck in the Indian market. Just three years after the first Volvo FMX was launched, this new one is ready to take its place and will take performance and productivity to a whole new level. The all new Volvo FMX is an extremely robust, powerful and efficient truck for the toughest operating conditions. It is designed based on enormous experience of Volvo Trucks in India and global markets in rough and deep mining and heavy construction application.
We have spent more than half a million hours on engineering and more than 100,000 hours on test-engineering, simulations, tests and verifications in the new FMX series. The accelerated endurance tests simulate 15 years of real use. This is equivalent to about one million km for a single truck working in construction and rough road conditions. That´s 250 laps around the world!
The new FMX is packed with smart new technologies that improve fuel efficiency, and features that minimise driver fatigue and maximize productivity and uptime. The new FMX now comes with automated gear box as an option; The ¨I-shift¨ for mining, that improves productivity, driving comfort and fuel efficiency. This new I-shift gearbox is Volvo´s 4th generation automated gear box and is designed and optimised particularly for mining operations.
The new ergonomic dashboard, instrument cluster and air suspended seat on I-shift variant provides spacious and stress free cab thus improving driver productivity. With the 18 tonne twin front axle, 33 tonne rear tandem axle, reinforced rear suspension, heavy duty bumper, and even the tow hook that is tested for 32 tonne, the truck redefines robustness. The new best in class 19.5 cu m body capacity can lead up to 10 per cent increased productivity compared to its predecessor and competition. The new FMX will also come with Dynafleet Online the Volvo telematics solution, enabled for ¨Fuel and environment¨ services which will provide customers more control on their fleet performance and together with Volvo Trucks Driver Training Center they can work towards improving their overall fuel consumption and operational efficiency of the fleet.
The new FMX uses smart new technologies to minimise fatigue on the driver and maximise productivity. It breaks new ground for mobility and manoeuvrability in borderline terrain and tight spaces.
