Universal launches vertical man and material handling, ideal for construction sites from three-storey to a hundred storey.
Pune-based Universal Construction Machinery Equipment has launched the unique concept of providing complete solution in vertical man and material handling at construction sites. The solution consists of a synchronised range of vertical material handling equipment like tower crane, passenger-cum-material lift, works platform, suspended platform, see saw lift, multigo, builder hoist and mini lift. The solution is specifically aimed at construction sites both residential and commercial buildings, power plants, cement and steel plants and other industrial projects. The solution is ideal for construction sites from three-storey to a hundred storeys.
Ranjit More, Executive Vice Chairman, Universal Group, said that the construction industry is a highly labou-intensive industry and labourers are exposed to inhuman conditions like fatigue and overload which affect their personal life. "This is one of the reasons why we have launched the vertical material handling systems. This is a unique concept where the customer will get a complete solution at his site, according to the specific requirement of the project, and at an affordable cost. The cost of the equipment will be in the range of Rs 80,000-80 lakh depending on the requirement of the project. From the customer's point of view, all processes will be synchronised with the proper range of equipment. The fact that it has come from a single manufacturer will enable a better service." AD Bhosale, Vice President, Universal Group, said, "Our technical team will visit the construction site, map the scale of project in beginning and will come up with various options based on the budget and project duration. Universal will provide operator and operator training based on the requirement along with Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC). Universal will also think of buying back this equipment once the project is over and customer no longer needs it."
More said that Universal Group has been known for its concreting equipment. He said, "However, we want to give a complete solution to our customers and cater to all the requirements of infrastructure and construction industry. Over the last five years, we have made conscious efforts to develop newer products in vertical material handling segment either through tie ups or manufacturing them at our world class facilities at Shivre, Shindewadi and Rudrapur. With the launch of the robotics division at Shivre, we will be able to scale up the production substantially. This division will help us to produce equipment with accuracy and consistency. Our vision is to become a leader in vertical material handling equipment domestically."
Bhosale added, "Often, contractors and customers spend a lot of time buying the right kind of machines and may make wrong choices. Our expertise will eliminate these problems. Also, Indian site conditions presently involve 30-40 per cent labour for material handling and processing; 25-30 per cent labour cost goes in it. Injuries to labourers while working at heights is as high as 20-30 per cent; 4-5 per cent material cost goes in waste due to wrongly handling the material. Hence, selection and use of appropriate equipment to reduce such losses are really required. Considering these needs, Universal has introduced the material handling solution concept."
