Cargotec Group has been a major supplier of loaded and empty container handling cranes and industrial heavy duty forklifts.
MC Sureshkumar, Managing Director, Cargotec India Pvt Ltd, elaborates on the company's products and solutions for ports sector.
Brief us on the solutions provided by you for the port sector. How do you see the demand-supply scenario for your product range?
Our company supplies various types of loaded and empty container handling cranes and industrial heavy duty forklifts of 10 tonne and above. The steady growth in container volumes has allowed us to make investments in this sector to meet the growing demand of container handling equipment and heavy duty forklifts. The sector is now demanding associated services like maintenance services, equipment leasing, rentals and operations services which opens up good opportunity for professional services companies like us in this sector.
Could you brief us on the sales performance? How do you compare the demand from major, non-major and private ports?
The port equipment sector has been able to perform as per the budgets agreed and we do foresee a shift in procurement from government (Major) sector to private (non-major) sector. This is due to the declared policy of government that private sector role in port sector will keep increasing and government would play the role of governing the sector instead of operating the ports.
What are the new products and solutions from Cargotec?
Our future plan is to offer digitalised solutions for this sector that will help our customers to increase productivity and efficiency. Our services would include advisory services towards this monitoring fuel consumptions, productivity, driver efficiency, etc, which will help customers to improve cost efficiencies in their operations.
