To increase its production capacity to about 4.5 lakh tonne per annum (ltpa) heavy minerals producer Trimex Sands is to invest about Rs 150 crore. Currently the company produces about 3 ltpa heavy minerals. Majority of this is Ilmenite. Now it plans to invest about Rs 150 crore on expansion, mostly on creating new manufacturing facilities but everything is subject to securing various clearances, the company said in Visakhapatnam.
The company has a heavy minerals processing plant in Srikakulum district in Andhra Pradesh. The capacity expansion is planned to increase efficiency and quality, said the company. Trimex Sands is a group company of Tamil Nadu-based Trimex group.
The company has set up a fully integrated complex for the extraction and separation of heavy mineral rich beach sands to produce multiple heavy minerals in Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh for about Rs 450 crore.
