Spread over 115 acres, JCB plans an investment of Rs 500 crore in the next five years.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, laid the foundation stone for JCB India's fourth manufacturing plant at Jaipur, Rajasthan in the presence of Alan Blake, Chief Executive Officer, JCB Group and Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, JCB India. With the approximate investment of Rs 500 crore, JCB India will set up its manufacturing facility on a 115- acre site. Speaking on the occasion, Gehlot said "It's a pleasure for me to lay the foundation stone of the manufacturing plant being set up by JCB India. I strongly believe that this premium development will contribute towards strengthening the manufacturing base of the state. I would like to wish JCB great progress in Rajasthan." With this new facility, JCB aims to keep pace with the future economic growth and strengthen its position as a market leader in the construction equipment industry.
Alan Blake said, "India is a very important market for JCB and our investment in Jaipur is a vital next step we're taking to further strengthen our position in this growing market. We look forward to providing products of the highest quality with the industry-leading service to our Indian customers from Rajasthan in the same way as we already do from our world-class factories in Haryana and Maharashtra."
"This is a memorable moment for us, as we begin this new chapter in the JCB India growth story. JCB has a very robust and growing business in India and we're making investments to drive sustainable long-term growth," said Sondhi.
"After a decade of continued investment by the JCB Group in Ballabgarh and Pune, I'm thrilled that Jaipur will become home to the company's next world-class manufacturing facility. The strategic location of the state along with its pro business approach was the primary reason for JCB to opt for Rajasthan. Further the plant will be located close to the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, which is an added advantage. Rajasthan's competitive advantage lies in its easy availability of raw materials, relatively low land cost which is generally a prerequisite for any manufacturer to set up its manufacturing base," he further said.
He further went on to say, "Today, JCB has three world class manufacturing units, one in Ballabhgarh, Haryana, two in Pune, Maharashtra. The Jaipur facility will be the fourth facility in India. This facility will start with fabrications by mid 2014."
Speaking about the slowdown and its impact on the CE industry, Sondhi said, "The year 2011-12 was a growth year. We sold 27,000 units. However, the construction equipment industry has registered a decline of over 10 per cent in 2012 and JCB has also witnessed slight decline in the overall sales. In 2013, we surely expect the market to improve; provided adequate steps are taken by our government and the formulated polices are implemented without any further delay."
Commenting on what make JCB a leader, Sondhi had this to say," I believe it is our customer- focused approach in business. JCB firmly believes in the customer being at the heart of a decision and that is the reason we have been able to retain our leadership position. Since inception, innovation has been our key driving forces and JCB products are a testament of our drive to constantly manufacture the most technologically advanced products. Innovation, vision and sheer hard work are the primary reasons that today JCB is a major global brand renowned for its pioneering spirit."
JCB's has three world class factories in the country, one in Ballabgarh, Haryana near New Delhi, and two in Pune.
