Suguna Group, a pumps and motors major, has tied up with Israel-based Shatal Engineering for manufacturing light construction equipment. The equal joint venture (JV) has invested $1.5 million in a facility in Coimbatore and plans to invest another $1 million for expansion. The company officials said that the JV Suguna Shatal would manufacture light machinery like tiles cutting and levelling machines. The company would earmark about 25 per cent of its production for the Indian market with a focus on the south, Josef Levy, Managing Director, Shatal and L Anish Kumar, Director, Suguna Shatal said. Stating that the company would be targeting a conservative share of the huge Indian light construction machinery market estimated at about Rs 9,800 crore, officials said that Suguna would manufacture motors for the entire machinery.
